Cootie Brown’s
Visiting Bristol Motor Speedway’s Christmas light display has become our new family tradition. The two hour wait is well worth the amazing light display…and my chance to drive on the racetrack! (I steer back and forth to keep my tires warm just like the big dogs do it! LOL).
That two hour wait might not have been so easy, without having had the most delicious meal at Cootie Brown’s! This was our second visit to the lights and our second visit to Cootie Browns! We won’t even consider eating anywhere else! The atmosphere is very laid back. The staff is full of Southern hospitality! And the food is the most impressive selection that I have ever seen! When I say there is something for everyone, what I mean to say is there are COUNTLESS things for everyone!
You’re given a newspaper like menu. It’s filled with “beginnings”, salads, dinners, sandwiches and what they are most known for…pizza! Why is Cootie Brown’s pizza so famous? I’m glad you asked! They were the first artisans to use a fire grilled crust. It’s thin and crispy, made from premium olive oils and the finest wheats from around the world. All of the ingredients are prepared in house daily, from the veggies to the sauce! You can create your own or choose one of the many specialty pizzas (half or 14 in.). I chose the Beale Street (bbq sauce, bbq chicken, mozarella, bacon, roasted red peppers, red onions, smoked mozarella and cilantro).
Prior to my pizza, I had started with “Maytag” Bleu Cheese Spiral Chips, Volcano Style. These are NOT for the weak!!! If you like spicy, you will LOVE these! My mouth still burns thinking about them, and I can’t wait to do it again!!
I couldn’t pass up dessert! The Key Lime Pie was calling my name. It has two layers of filling. One is smooth and silky. The other is rich and tart. There is also a gluten free version. FYI: they now ship their pies nationwide. So if you are in Oregon, Massachusetts, or North Dakota, you can still relish in the deliciousness of a Cootie Brown Key Lime Pie!
What did the rest of my crew have, you may be asking. CG had a create your own pizza. GS had a shrimp po boy. CR had Beer Bratwurst and Conch Fritters . We all gave them a 10/10!
Bristol is a great town for shopping. A Nascar race is held there twice, yearly. The Christmas light display is well worth a drive. Whatever reason brings you to Brisol, no matter how long or how short your stay, you MUST visit Cootie Brown’s.
