Up, Up and Away!

I recently made my first flight since the pandemic. It had been so long since I flew that I had pretty much forgotten a lot of the necessities!

  1. Wheeled luggage. Trust me! You do NOT want to be carrying your luggage in and out of the airport. I’m linking mine below. The pros of my set is that it stands out. I can see it when it first hits the baggage claim. (A tip for those of you with standard colored luggage, tie a colored scarf or ribbon to the handle for easy identification.). The cons to my luggage is that it seems a bit heavy. Believe it or not, I pack relatively light. My suitcase was STILL heavy to lift in and out of my vehicle and slightly heavier than I had hoped when pulling it.

  2. Carry on. Someday, I would love to learn how to travel without the need of a carry on. It looks so freeing when I see ladies whipping thru the airport with only a crossbody! Until I learn the secret, I recommend a carry on that zips closed. (Something I had forgotten!). Many people use the smaller version of their wheeled luggage as their carry on. I prefer to use a bag of some sort because I like to store in under the seat in front of me, not one of those overhead bins. Items I like to have in my carryon: hand sanitizer, phone charger, chewing gum (prevent those ears from popping), fuzzy socks

  3. Flight Attire. Words of wisdom, dress for comfort! I’m a firm believer in presenting yourself well, but you can do that and still dress comfortable. Temperatures are unpredictable. Spacing is limited. Sometimes distance between concourses is long and requires quite the sprint! My suggestion: leggings, tank/tee, zip up hoodies and slip on sneakers. Some will suggest flip flops because you have to take your shoes off to get checked in. I wore some nice ones on a recent flight and about came out of them trying to get to my connecting flight. Also, one of the things I had forgotten was the fuzzy socks to put on during my screen…so YUCK, I was barefoot!

Hoping we all have lots of travels ahead of us! For those wondering, my single parent series will continue, I just wanted to share this post while it was fresh on my mind!
